Domain Name Services (DNS)
DNS Management
AWS, Azure, and Google all use their own DNS management services. For basic access to machine instances, storage, etc., the providers handle all of the DNS automatically and will generally be sufficient.
Can I use a 3rd party domain name? No, AIP manages a DNS zone for each provider and doesn't support the use of outside domain names within the AIP platform.
Can I use a tamu.edu domain name? Yes, you may use a hostname.tamu.edu address. Get a static IP in the cloud provider and InfoBlox can point to that address. If you need to request a hostname.tamu.edu address, follow the process here: https://itselfservice.tamu.edu/tamucs?id=tamucs_kb_article&sys_id=KB0012907.
AWS
Amazon Web Services uses Route 53 AIP DNS Zone: aws.cloud.tamu.edu
Azure
AIP DNS Zone: azure.cloud.tamu.edu
Google Cloud
AIP DNS Zone: gcp.cloud.tamu.edu
